about cyn magaña

I identify as a queer, Latinx clinical social worker and trauma-informed wellness practitioner with over a decade of experience walking alongside survivors, high-achieving professionals, and underrepresented communities. My praxis is rooted in culturally affirming, decolonial, and somatic care that honors the ways anxiety, grief, and perfectionism weave through trauma, family patterns, creative pressures, and systemic injustices. I specialize in supporting first-generation professionals, intuitive and spiritual creatives, cycle breakers, and high-achievers who are ready to heal intergenerational wounds, tend to grief, and reclaim their inner landscape in ways that feel authentic, aligned, and liberated.

about me

I’ve always been drawn to spaces where healing, social justice, and care intersect. These spaces offer depth, community, and no one is expected to navigate alone.

My path into this work was shaped by mentorship, chosen family, and the kind of community care that carried me through young adulthood. Early on, I learned that healing is rarely individual, but rather reciprocal. It’s something we give back.

I began as an academic peer counselor at a community college, supporting first-generation college students navigating higher education for the first time. I later worked as a qualitative research assistant alongside survivors of gender-based violence, deepening my understanding of how trauma lives not only in the body, but within systems, relationships, and silence.

From there, I served in nonprofit and healthcare settings across New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles—providing counseling to families, adolescents, and professionals of color within complex, high-pressure environments.

As a Los Angeles native shaped by formative years in New York City, I bring both West Coast expansiveness and East Coast depth into my practice. My work is informed by lived experience navigating systems of power, cultural expectation, and intergenerational responsibility.

I hold healing as both personal and political that is rooted in intersectionality, ancestral wisdom, and the belief that what has been carried can be witnessed, grieved, and transformed.

My approach is collaborative, culturally attuned, and somatic. I move at a pace that allows the nervous system to settle, insight to land, and compassion to replace self-judgment—so meaningful change can take root, not just intellectually, but in the body and in relationship.

This work is not about fixing.
It’s about returning—to yourself, to steadiness, to choice..

may we meet illness, death and adversity with strength

an embodied anti-racist practice of cultural building.

I am privileged to learn from Resmaa Menakem through his teaching and embodied philosophy towards Somatic Abolitionism. Somatic Abolitionism is a return to the age-old wisdom of human bodies respecting, honoring, and resonating with other human bodies. Somatic Abolitionism is the process of resourcing energies that are always present within one’s body, the collective body, and the world healing from White Bodied Supremacy.
